Current NL East Standings

Atlanta Braves (31-20)
The Braves have started the season very well and some experts did not expect them to start as well as they have. The Braves have found a hidden gem in a unknown player named Evan Gattis. He has 12 home runs to start out the season through the 51 games that have been played. The Braves continue to hit the long ball and it has proven to pay off.

Washington Nationals (27-25)
The Nationals have started the season out slow after being a playoff team and the NL East division winner. Bryce Harper recently got hurt and has struggled since the injury. The Nationals slow start though does not mean that they could not give the Braves a run at the division because there is still plenty of baseball left to go.

Philadelphia Phillies (25-27)
The Phillies continue to hang around despite the injuries that have piled up to this team. Star second baseman Chase Utley is on the disabled list and Ryan Howard still is not 100 percent from his Achilles that he suffered in the playoffs a few years back. They are a veteran team that could fall out of wild card contention fast so the fate of the Phillies depends on their performance on the field.

New York Mets (20-29)
The Mets have taken heat for not being able to hit the ball in key situations in games. David Wright still continues to impress however despite being on a bad team. Baseball fans knew that the Mets would not be a good team this year when they traded star pitcher R.A. Dickey to the Blue Jays in the offseason.

Miami Marlins (13-39)
The Marlins have started the season just like baseball fans thought they would. During the offseason the Marlins cut payroll and traded many of their key players to the Blue Jays. The only good player that currently still plays for the Marlins is Giancarlo Stanton but he is on the 15 day DL right now. A rising star for the Marlins is Derek Dietrich who was recently promoted and plays 2nd base.

This is David Wright of the New York Mets, who is the face of the franchise and he is the Third Basemen for the Mets.

  1. I noticed you're a Braves fan in your bio. Glad to hear that they are off to a decent start. One of my previous students was drafted. He played catcher at the college.
